1940 Chevy Suspension
Upgrade
Bill Longs1940 Chevy street rod still had the original steering, suspension and drum brakes on the front end. Barry removed the all the old parts and installed his custom hub to hub kit including rack & pinion steering, disc brakes, tubular A-arms & shocks system with coil over shocks. As with any modification, one thing leads to another. In this case, new custom engine mount points had to be welded to the frame rails to support the Cadillac engine. A new crossmember and brace were added for strength. The disc brakes needed a new master cylinder and the geometry of the steering shaft was adjusted with new joints.
Bills 1940 Chevy coupe should handle much better now and the brake upgrade will make stopping more precise. If you need to upgrade your classic ride give McGill Manufacturing a call and put some modern technology to work for you. |
